Psychotherapy in Berkeley, CA

Imagine loving your authentic self without reservation.

Feelings of not being good enough weigh on you.

It can be overwhelming to contend with a harsh inner critic that insists you shouldn’t be so sensitive and you should magically feel better.

Imagine feeling genuine love for yourself and deeply connected in your relationships.

You feel that you have to give up your self-worth just to be loved. Brene Brown calls this ‘hustling for love’. You grew up thinking you were somehow not good enough and had to smile and downplay more complex feelings. Now your stomach or jaw frequently tighten with fears of being alone or being less than.

You want to feel that you’re worthy of love and connection.

Psychotherapy in Berkeley can guide you on a healing journey. Loneliness and feelings of inadequacy are universal experiences, but they don’t have to be constant. You are not alone. I provide a safe space where we can navigate these feelings together. By shining a light into the darker corners of your mind and body, pain from the past starts to surface and heal. You deserve to love yourself. Reach out today to learn more.

You focus on making those around you feel good, often at your own expense.

Maybe you’ve thought, “if I can be the perfect friend, daughter or sibling then I won’t feel like I’m failing or unloveable.” This is a message that has often been internalized by individuals, especially women, who consistently prioritize others’ needs and find themselves drained. Continuing on this path of seeking approval from others may cause you to forget what is authentic to you, losing touch with your true self and genuine needs.

You want to connect with your desires, identify your boundaries and prioritize what matters to you most – all while feeling loved and connected.

I strive to establish a real, heart-to-heart connection with each client. The healing happens in a warm, caring relationship and in the more subconscious, creative realms of the mind. While logic is crucial for everyday tasks, true wisdom and healing often emerge from the right brain, which is more creative and less linear.

There’s no shame in not being able to feel better on your own.

We are inherently wired to seek support from others, there’s no need for you to endure suffering in isolation. Within each challenge lies opportunities for profound growth. Navigating these problems with support can be a transformative journey towards self-discovery and healing.

I’ll help you to discover your authentic self.

I can support you in embracing your true self without the pressure to change for others. Using somatic and art therapy techniques we can uncover what your whole self is trying to communicate.

Frequently, our bodies communicate information that we may struggle to interpret – like a knot in your stomach when meeting someone new or a tight jaw when attempting to speak up. These offer essential insights to begin the process of unloading the burdens that weigh on you. Psychotherapy in Berkeley can help.

Think of me as a trusted companion with years of experience, ready to support you on your unique healing journey.

Others have led you to believe that you're too sensitive.

Life can feel overwhelming when you feel things deeply. As a sensitive person you feel like you’re desperately trying to fill a bucket that continues to drain. You want to feel more like yourself, like you can handle any challenge and less like you’re drowning.

Sensitivity is a superpower!

Life can feel overwhelming when you feel things deeply. As a sensitive person you feel like you’re desperately trying to fill a bucket that continues to drain. You want to feel more like yourself, like you can handle any challenge and less like you’re drowning.

I’ll help you see your sensitivity as a strength, not a flaw.

Somatic and art therapy interventions will support you in caring for, not criticizing, aspects of yourself that feel sensitive or ashamed.

Therapy is a safe space for you to talk about anything, especially the shameful, hidden stuff. Together we can examine old patterns that might be keeping you stuck and cultivate self-compassion even when it’s nowhere to be found. Reach out today to learn more about psychotherapy in Berkeley.

You worry that the right job or relationship may not exist.

Feelings of loneliness or dissatisfaction in your current job keep returning but navigating the prospect of dating or seeking a new job can be nerve-wracking. The advice to make changes sounds simple, yet something seems to be holding you back. Life brings a range of challenging emotions such as grief, anger, and sadness and that’s not a bad thing. These emotions carry valuable messages that can serve as catalysts for personal growth.

Limiting beliefs don’t have to hold you back.

Making transitions is a challenge and people can become attached to thoughts and behaviors that no longer serve them. Art therapy and mindfulness exercises can support you to identify limiting beliefs and make them more conscious. Inner wisdom can come through in a drawing or a letter to someone that has upset you.

Art engages the right brain, moving beyond logic to a more creative side that holds guidance and wisdom. You don’t have to be ‘good’ at art. Allowing the medium to guide you in exploring who you are and what matters most can be transformative.

Feeling truly alive and valued is possible.

In therapy, I’ll support you in listening more deeply to your inner wisdom and cultivating compassion for the parts of yourself that are struggling. We often shut down our uncomfortable feelings, but it’s essential to allow them to surface as they can guide us in recognizing what matters most. I’ll help you gain clarity about what you value most in life.

Imagine feeling more grounded and self-assured.

I am dedicated to helping you cultivate self-compassion and experience support within your relationships. My style blends various modalities that are effective and create lasting change. With individual clients I utilize art and somatic therapy techniques that go beyond logic to support healing.

Most issues people struggle with need more creativity and less logic. Stepping out of problem-solving mode is key to gaining genuine insight, facilitating change, and fostering growth.

I’m here to give you tools that actually work.

Hello, I'm Rose.

Here's how I can support you

My compassionate style and unique interventions can help you become the best version of yourself. Therapy with me is a safe and confidential space where you can talk about anything. I often hear, ‘I’ve never talked about this before’. I’m grateful for the chance to hold space for the things you might not have felt safe sharing.

My style is unique. I synthesize a variety of highly effective therapy modalities such as mindfulness, neuroscience, somatic and art therapy. This helps clients to explore unconscious tendencies and define their authentic needs.

My approach weaves together effective therapeutic interventions from many brilliant voices in the field. These interventions can actually work to help you hear that harsh inner critic as inaccurate, but needing support, and to define your authentic needs. Somatic, mindfulness and art therapy interventions can cast a different light on problems that may feel repetitive and ingrained.

I regularly immerse myself in the latest research, participating in advanced courses, and attending highly specialized trainings such as:

  • Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
  • Dynamic Attachment Re-patterning Experience (DARe)
  • Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT)
  • Institute for Relational Intimacy

Olivia White, AMFT

I specialize in working with female-identified individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, and trauma. Through somatic therapy and parts work, I provide a safe and compassionate space for you to reconnect with your body and explore the different parts of yourself.

Trauma is stored in the body, and somatic therapy helps release these stored experiences, restoring sensation and full feeling to areas that may have been numb or shut down for years.

Parts work enables us to reconnect with parts of ourselves we may have run from or buried in order to survive. Together, we will deepen your understanding of yourself and get to the root of what’s keeping you stuck, enabling you to feel more fully alive and embody your most authentic self.
